Eatonton Downtown Development Authority
The Eatonton Downtown Development Authority meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30pm at the Chamber of Commerce, 108 W. Marion Street.
Downtown development authorities are used in cities throughout Georgia as a mechanism to revitalize and redevelop municipal central business The Eatonton DDA may accept grants and apply for loans. It can also own, acquire and improve property, and is empowered to enter into contracts and intergovernmental agreements. The DDA also has the authority to issue revenue bonds. There are seven board members who serve four year terms. The Eatonton DDA was formed in 2008.

Eatonton City Center Stage Available for Rent
If you would like to have your own small concert or event, you may rent the City Center Stage. A parking lot, which is located adjacent to the stage behind Barrel 118, is included in the rental of the stage for your guests. Audio equipment is not included in the rental of the stage.

City of Eatonton Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Resolution
The following resolution was adopted by the council of the City of Eatonton on the 5th February 2008.
A resolution to create and activate the Eatonton Downtown Development Authority, identify members, define the development area and for other purposes.
Whereas, it has been determined by the Mayor and Council of the city of Eatonton, Georgia that there is a need in the City for the revitalization and redevelopment of the central business district of the City to develop and promote for the public good and general welfare, trade commerce industry and employment opportunities; and
Whereas, it has been determined by the Mayor and Council of the City that revitalization and redevelopment of the central business district by financing project under the Downtown Redevelopment Authorities Law will develop and promote current and new trade, commerce, industry and employment opportunities thus promoting public good and the general welfare of the City; and
Whereas, the Mayor and Council of the City have determined that it is in the public interest and welfare of the people o the City to revitalize and redevelop the central business district of the City; and
Whereas, the Downtown Development Authorities Law created in each and every municipal corporation of the State of Georgia a downtown development authority; and
Whereas, the Mayor and Council of the City have determined that it is desirable and necessary that that Downtown Development Authority of the City be activated immediately, pursuant to the Law in order to fulfill the needs expressed herein;
Now, therefore be it resolved that there is hereby determined and declared to be a present and future need for a downtown development authority in the City of Eatonton; and
Be it further resolved that there is hereby activated in the City the public body corporate and politic known as the Downtown Development Authority of Eatonton, Georgia which was created upon the adoption of the Downtown Development Authorities Law; and
Be it further resolved that there are hereby appointed seven members of the first Board of Directors, each of whom shall be a taxpayer and resident of the City of Eatonton, or an owner or operator of a business or represent an owner or operator or otherwise have an economic interest in the redevelopment and revitalization of the downtown development area (hereinafter defined) and residing in Putnam County with only one of such directors being an elected official of the City of Eatonton.

Be it further resolved that commencing with the date of adoption of this resolution each of the persons named above as director shall sere in such capacity for the number of years set forth opposite his or her respective name; however, that the terms shall be four years for those directors appointed or reappointed on or after July 1, 2008. The term of the Authority members who is also a member of the Eatonton City Council shall end when such member is no longer a member of the Eatonton City Council.
Be it further resolved that the Board of Directors herein before elected shall organize itself, carry out its duties and responsibilities and exercise its powers and prerogatives in accordance with the terms and provisions of the Downtown Development Authorities Law as it now exists and as it might hereafter be amended or modified.
Be it further resolved that the downtown development area shall be that geographical area described in Exhibit A, attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference, which area, I the judgement of the Mayor and Council of the City, constitutes the area contemplated by the Downtown Development Authorities Law.
Be it further resolved that the City shall furnish promptly to the Secretary of State of the State of Georgia a certified copy of this resolution in compliance with the provisions of the Downtown Development Authorities Law.
Be it further resolved that the action taken by the Mayor and Council of the City as herein specified is not intended in any way to affect any public corporation, industrial development, downtown development, or payroll authority previously created by legislative act or constitutional amendment including, without limitation, its existence, purpose, organization, powers or function.
Be it further resolved that any and all resolutions in conflict with this resolution be and the same are hereby repealed.
Be it further resolved that this resolution shall be effective immediately upon its adoption by the Mayor and City Council of Eatonton, Georgia and from and after such adoption the Downtown Development Authority of the City shall be deemed created and activated.
